What are the main welding methods for storage shelves?

Storage shelves are assembled and welded with various specifications of steel, and welding methods are various. At present, argon arc welding, gas welding and electron beam welding are common welding methods at home and abroad. Each welding method has its own advantages and disadvantages.

1. Argon arc welding

Argon arc welding fork is called argon shielded welding, which is a welding method developed on the basis of common arc welding. Argon arc shielding gas is usually used to isolate air from the weld zone to prevent oxidation of the weld zone. The most significant advantage of argon arc welding is that it completely prevents air from entering, and the welded joints are not eroded by oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen. High-quality welds can be obtained without coating and various solvents, and the formation of slag inclusions and pores in welds can be avoided.

The wrinkling and shrinkage of weld and component are minimized, and the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of welded joints are greatly improved. However, argon arc welding also has disadvantages, welding will produce strong ultraviolet, infrared, ozone, ammonia oxygen and thorium radioactive dust, and put forward higher requirements for welding safety and health.

Argon arc welding is suitable for non-ferrous metal and alloy steel welding, single side welding and double side forming, because argon arc welding cannot contact with oxygen in the air, because argon arc welding is continuous in high temperature fusion welding.

2, welding

Gas welding is a fusion welding that uses a flame of combustible gas and oxygen to heat the metal in proportion. Acetylene, liquefied gas and other commonly used combustible gases. Gas welding has the advantages of low cost, simple equipment, flexible and convenient operation, convenient flame control, no power supply and so on. It can play a greater role in the need of welding when the power supply is insufficient. However, oxygen - acetylene gas is flammable and explosive in gas welding. Therefore, this method is the most dangerous of all welding methods. In addition, the deformation and thermal influence range of the workpiece after welding is large, the welding quality is not high, the gas welding productivity is low, and it is difficult to achieve automation.

3. Electron beam welding

Electron beam welding is a welding method which uses electron beam acceleration to concentrate the energy produced by bombarding vacuum or non-vacuum welds. The main advantages of electron beam welding are: strong penetration ability of electron beam, large ratio of weld depth to width, fast welding speed, small thermal influence range and small welding deformation. However, electron beam welding technology is difficult and costly, and generally requires a vacuum chamber. Even if there is a non-vacuum electron beam, there are risks of hard X-ray and current diffusion, so it cannot be widely used.
